The Brides Have ItAlso going strong are the Gladiolus callianthus murielae (alias acidanthera) sprinkled around in a quantity of 500. Valued as much for their fragrance as their showy, white and burgundy blossoms, they tend to top out at the same height as the surrounding perennials.

As a result, every once in a while, you find a little treasure nestled in. Still to come are the crocosmias that filled the “peanuts” and “batwings” once populated by tulips. And the nerines that replaced the large-cupped narcissus in circles scattered throughout are also on the future agenda. So you’re wondering – how is the Seasonal Walk sitting with all those brides?

Although the brides tend to be preoccupied, there has been feedback from the wedding parties. Most memorably, one delighted father-of-the-bride was overheard to say, “I would pay twice as much to have my daughter married in such a beautiful garden!” You can’t do much better than that.
